Revegetation
Much of Southeast Queensland has been cleared of indigenous vegetation, leaving a matrix of small, more or less isolated remnants. Although continuing urban development puts further pressure on such remnants, it can also provide an economic mechanism to assist revegetation in strategically targeted areas. Over the past few years, there has been an increasing focus on the use of locally indigenous species in open space areas associated with land development. Many of these have involved waterway and wetland restoration, or other forms of functional corridors designed to provide linkages between remnants. This page describes the plants supplied by Greenstock Nurseries for use in such revegetation projects. The list has been extracted from our larger growing list to include only those species indigenous to the Southeast Queensland Bioregion. The latter extends from the New South Wales border north to Curtis Island and west to Toowoomba and Kingaroy.
Greenstock Nurseries is actively extending our range of such species through collection of seed and other propagules, and intends to update this catalogue on a regular basis. Each time we introduce a new species to the list, we shall provide information on its occurrence and distribution.
